Retreat Staff
Fr Simon Lodge

Fr.
Simon is a Batley lad and proud of it. He was educated at St Mary’s Primary and
St John Fisher’s High School in Dewsbury and for a while at St. Cuthbert's
College, Ushaw.
He has worked for the Leeds & Holbeck Building Society and at the accounts centre for the Burton Group in Harehills. After
some years, he returned to Ushaw and continued his studies for the priesthood. He was ordained on 1st July 2000
by Bishop Konstant.
Fr. Simon has served in St Austin’s Wakefield, where he was
chaplain to Pinderfields Hospital, and in Holy Name, Leeds and Our Lady of
Lourdes, Headingley. In August, 2006, he was appointed to the Grange.
Francis (Frank) McCrickard,
Is
married to Jean and has three children, Kate, Anna and Ciaran. He has taught at
schools in Britain, Zambia and Malawi, worked in local radio, in publishing and
at national level as Training Resources Officer for Catholic Youth Services of
England and Wales. For
three years he was Director of Veritas Youth Resources, a branch of the Catholic
Communications Institute of Ireland. He has worked at Myddelton Lodge/Myddelton
Grange since the early 1990’s. Frank has written fiction, television and radio
scripts and catechetical works. He has played football for Celtic* and won his one and only boxing match at
a primary school Christmas
party.

Marjorie Parker
Is
a Leeds
lass and her career in all its guises declares her commitment to schools and
young people across the diocese and beyond. She taught RE at St Wilfrid's, Featherstone;
Halifax Catholic High;
Mount St Mary's, Leeds and McAuley High School, Doncaster and has worked with both adults and young people at various
retreat centres
including St Monica's, Skipton, Woodhall and Myddelton Lodge. In her 'retirement', Marjorie has worked for
the Hallam Diocese as a School chaplain and as School Chaplains' Co-ordinator,
for the Rainbows organisation
(bereaved children) and maintained her long standing commitment to the Faith and
Light movement. Marjorie claims her specialities are the teaching of the Gospel
through knitting and rugby league. A diehard Leeds Rhinos supporter, she only fights with referees
and they tend to come off
worse.
Luke Smith
Luke
joined the Retreat team in September 2006, he is originally from Wolverhampton.
He studied Geography at the University of Wales,
Aberystwyth, and completed his degree in 2004.Since then he has worked in a number of environments including local
and national government. He has lived and worked in the Diocese since November
2005. Luke has only had two fights in his life, and he won both of them. He was 3
at the time and is sorry if he hurt anyone.
Sam
Sam
joined the team in early September 2006, his interests include running running
and running and running some more. He is very nosey and his attempts to
infiltrate retreats are thwarted regularly by the director, but he just keeps on
running.....
Bess
Bess is the latest edition to the team
joining in October 2007. She brings with her a sense of maturity, her interests
are in keeping up to date with current affairs, the arts and developing her
collection of stamps and reading 19th century poetry.
